When talking about Plastic Surgery, many people think of cosmetic surgery. However, interventions often have a completely different reason than the desire for a perfect look. In many cases, it is about the reconstruction of parts of the body or the restoration of nerves and tendons. The spectrum of Plastic Surgery is the broadest in and of all surgical fields - and the topics discussed at IMC are just as diverse. Because of the international level, the IMC is entirely in English and on a friendly level most of all. "We discuss relevant Plastic Surgery procedures at a very high technical level here in IMC with experienced colleagues from all over the world," says Prof. C. Can Cedidi. Dr. Cedidi is the chief physician of the Clinic for Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the Bremen-Mitte Clinic and speaks on Perspectives in Oncology in Plastic-Reconstructive Surgery - Sarcoma and Complex Neoplastic disorders. Prof. Cedidi absolved his training in Plastic Surgery at the Hannover Medical School, at the University of Heidelberg, and the Mayo Medical School. He was involved in numerous internationally cited articles, book chapters, as well as international presentations. We always have to be aware of the special responsibility towards our patients. These webinars can certainly make a contribution, in addition to the exchange of knowledge and experience about new and tried and tested, to keep this aspect in mind and to further raise awareness of this highly sensitive area of our work. In order to further promote knowledge and scientific exchange, Prof. Cedidi established one of the best international yearly life surgery meetings in Bremen The SOAP State Of Art Plastic-Surgery. I am particularly pleased that the work and quality of our subject are particularly appreciated during these webinars, and that many guests from all over the world participate in these. This not only enables an insight into the plastic surgical activity in completely different contexts but also promotes international cooperation and friendships worldwide in our specialist area. It motivates numerous members, to teach us their experience free of charge. National and international colleagues demonstrate new trends and proven methods in Plastic Surgery. I believe that platforms like this improve the high quality of Plastic Surgery. For Prof. Cedidi, the IMC Webinars is an opportunity to participate in the further development of medicine. At the same time, he hopes that Plastic Surgery and its possibilities will be used more frequently and, above all, earlier. “We can do a lot,” he says, “and often we could save patients a long time from suffering if they would come to us sooner.” In the Clinic Bremen Mitte, which is chaired by Prof. Cedidi and is one of the largest in Germany, patients are operated on who need Plastic Surgical reconstruction after cancer, tumor, or failed surgeries elsewhere. The Chief Surgeon has also made a name for himself with the care in microsurgical reconstructions. We are able to help patients after dramatic accidents, tumors, or congenital defects.
