This SATURDAY (Apr 10, 2021) we are happy to have Dr. Risal Djohan (U.S.A.) and Dr. Tommy Nai-Jen Chang (Taiwan) for the "Breast Neurotization Panel", Dr. Wei F Chen (U.S.A.) and Dr. Jung-Ju Huang (Taiwan) will moderate this talk.

Dr. Risal Djohan, MD, MBA, is a plastic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic. He received his medical training at Finch University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School, and went on to complete a residency in General Surgery through Catholic Health Partners, Columbus Hospital. He also completed fellowships in plastic surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals and an aesthetic surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. He was the Visiting Fellow for Microsurgery at Chang Gung & Ghent.

Dr. Djohan is a member of ASRM, ASPS, AAPS, OVSPS, and his special interests include facial cosmetic and plastic surgery, including facelifts (rhytidectomy) and cosmetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty), as well as Botox and injectable fillers. Additionally, his interests include breast surgery, liposuction, and tummy tucks (abdominoplasty). He has been board-certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. His many clinical interests include microvascular surgery and reconstruction of the breast.

Dr. Djohan is the previous Program Director for Microsurgery Fellowship and Plastic Surgery Residency Program, Cleveland Clinic, the team member for Face Transplant, Cleveland Clinic, currently he is the Vice Chairman of the Dept. Plastic Surgery in Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, U.S.A.


Dr. Tommy Nai-Jen Chang, M.D., is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Taiwan. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Division of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou Medical Center, Taiwan. Dr. Chang finished his residency at Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital in 2011 and was appointed as staff of the department. He learned peripheral nerve reconstruction from professor David Chwei-Chin Chuang since 2012. Between 2015 and 2016, Dr. Chang completed a peripheral nerve research fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada, supervised by Dr. Gregory Borschel, Dr. Tessa Gordon Dr. Ronald Zuker. After a few years of peripheral nerve learning from prof. David Chuang and Gregory Borschel, now Dr. Chang can perform all kinds of peripheral nerve surgeries. Currently, Dr. Chang works with Professor David Chwei-Chin Chuang and Dr. Johnny Chuieng-Yi Lu for peripheral nerve reconstruction for adult and pediatric brachial plexus injury, facial paralysis, and reconstruction of upper and lower extremity defects, decompression neuropathy including carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, and the neurogenic tumors. Not only motor nerves, but Dr. Chang also explore the sensory and autonomic nervous system as well in recent years and developed some new fields, such as breast and nipple neurotization, and robotic-assisted sympathetic trunk reconstruction. Besides, Dr. Chang also does microvascular surgeries for Head and Neck reconstruction, perineal reconstruction, and extremities reconstruction.

His research interests include peripheral nerve regeneration and reconstruction, and social media for microsurgery education. In 2016, Dr. Chang created International Microsurgery Club (IMC) on Facebook; until now, this group is the biggest online microsurgery platform, with over 15900+ members worldwide. In 2017, Dr. Chang invited as the editor-in-chief of the International Microsurgery Journal (IMJ); in 2018, Dr. Chang created International Microsurgery Website (IMW) to achieve the essential educational resources. In 2020, Dr. Chang handles the IMC Webinar Series during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide continuous education for global microsurgeons. Until now, over 110 events were held, and all the recorded webinar talks were archive on the IMW for members to free access. Not only IMC, in Sep 2020, but Dr. Chang also integrates the main microsurgery webinar hosts and creates International Microsurgery Webinar League. Over 400 free accessed microsurgery-related free webinar talks were then connected online automatically, and the power of online learning of this system continues to expand.
