MADRID, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Teresa Romero, who earlier this month became the first person outside of Africa to be infected by Ebola, on Sunday night was shown to have "zero virus" in her blood, local media reported Monday.
Romero will undergo a second test this week to confirm the results of Sunday's test, which if positive, will mean she has recovered from the virus.
Javier Limon, her husband, will remain under observation at the Carlos III Hospital until Oct. 27 as he is one of 15 people considered to be at high-risk of developing the illness.
On Monday, Limon announced he is preparing to start legal action against Spanish authorities for the mismanagement of the crisis.
He insisted he was "very happy because you could say Teresa has got over the illness," but said he would not accept accusations she was to blame for becoming ill.
"I am going to show in the courts the huge disaster that the management of Ebola has been in Spain," said Limon.
Romero became infected when she was treating the missionary Manuel Garcia Viejo, who died of Ebola on Sept. 25 in Madrid.
Her infection provoked controversy, with health workers insisting they had neither been given equipment nor the training to deal with the virus.
Spanish Health Minister Ana Mato has been under fire for her handling of the crisis and there have also been widespread calls for the resignation of the director of the Madrid regional health authority Javier Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, the Ebola protocol was activated in Barcelona late on Sunday night. A 48-year-old man, who had recently returned from a trip to Sierra Leone and Guinea, was taken to hospital symptoms similar to those of Ebola.
