(Part one)INTRODUCTION TO THE CHINESE SOCIETY ISSUE
It is my great pleased to introduce special issue of Mycrosurgery, which is composed of articles from the Chinese Society of Microsurgery. This is the first special issue for the Society since the affiliation between the Chinese Microsurgery Society and Microsurgery was officially established.
The Practice of microsurgery in china has a long history. The Chinese Society of Microsurgery has contributed many of the pioneers and founders in the discipline of microsurgery. Many achievements were not known in western countries until the historic isolation was broken in 1970s. Now, China may have the largest group of microsurgeons in the world, with a spectacular range of practice in microsurgical cases and scientific research. I was invited to participate in the Eighth Congress of the Chinese Society of Microsurgery, which was held in Qingdao, China, in September, 2006. I was amazed that over 600 abstracts, covering almost every aspect in microsurgery, were collected during the proceedings of the meeting, and the presentations were even more magnificent………….
