Dr. Wieslawa De Pawlikowski, MD, FACS, Professor of Plastic Surgery at the National University of San Marcos and Chief of the Department of Surgery at the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Nino (National Children’s Institute) in Lima, Peru. Dr. De Pawlikowski received her training in the National Children’s Institute, became a staff, later founded there one of the first microsurgery units in the country, and has now more than 25 years of experience in the field of pediatric microsurgery with a special focus on the management of obstetrical brachial plexus palsy, peripheral nerve injuries, and complex pediatric reconstruction. She is past president of the Peruvian Society of Plastic Surgery, a member of multiple international scientific societies, and chair and host of several international symposiums, including the first Latinamerican microsurgery meeting (which led to the later creation of ALAM) over 10 years ago.
