在机场与等待的民众简短会面之后，两只大熊猫被送往荷兰小城雷嫩的欧维汉兹动物园，雷嫩位于荷兰中部，人口约2万。本月初，荷兰方面公开了专门请中国工匠采用传统工艺建造的名为“Pandasia”的“史上最豪华熊猫馆”。该馆为中国传统宫殿式风格（style of Chinese traditional palace），主体为两座相连建筑，各三层，总面积9000多平方米，在半地下的一层，有“星雅”“武雯”各自的卧室和活动室、食物储存间、诊疗所，还有为未来宝宝准备的育婴房（nursery for their future cubs）。"It's a small step for Wu Wen and Xing Ya, but a big step for the history of Sino-Dutch relations," said Wu Ken, Chinese ambassador to the Netherlands.
中国驻荷兰大使吴恳表示：“这是‘武雯’和‘星雅’的一小步，却是中荷关系史上的一大步。”This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the Netherlands. "This significant 'panda moment' marks the beginning of a new chapter in our relations," he added.
他指出，今年是中国跟荷兰建交45周年，“这个重要的‘熊猫时刻’说明两国关系开启了新篇章”。根据世界自然基金会（World Wildlife Fund，WWF）网站的分类，不同物种的保护状态（conservation status）由轻到重大致分为以下几种：无危物种（least concern）、近危物种（near threatened）、易危物种（vulnerable）、濒危物种（endangered）、极危物种（critically endangered）。当前，中国境内大熊猫数量不断增加，世界自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录（IUCN Red List of Threatened Species或称IUCN红色名录）已将该物种的现状由“濒危”（endangered）改为“易危”（vulnerable）。中国将“国宝”大熊猫赠送给关系友好的国家，以增进两国之间的友谊，此举被称为“熊猫外交”（panda diplomacy）。1957年，第一只“熊猫特使”（panda ambassador）前往莫斯科。60年来，大熊猫从作为中国“第一国礼”赠送，出国展览，到合作研究，一直作为双边外交的符号（symbol of bilateral diplomacy），向全世界传递着中国人民的友好情谊。截至2016年底，中国与日本、美国、奥地利、泰国、西班牙、澳大利亚、英国、法国、新加坡、加拿大、比利时、马来西亚等共13个国家的18个动物园开展大熊猫合作研究（joint research projects on giant panda），旅居海外的大熊猫及其幼崽共53只。
